Megan Young was announced as one of the Top Ten (10) Finalists of Miss World Top Model Competition held last September 24, 2013. Later, she was announced as the Winner of Top Model Competition, one day before the Miss World finals as posted on Miss World Official Website.

Bali, Indonesia - In a historic, colorful and glittering ceremony marred by protests from some extremist groups, a stunning twenty-three year old Megan Lynne Talde Young of Olongapo City in Zambales province, Philippines beats out 126 other contestants to win the 63rd Miss World, the very first Miss World title for the Philippines in its 47 years of participating in the said pageant since 1966. It was also the first Miss World title for Southeast Asian region. She was announced as the new Miss World 2013 by Julia Morley, owner and chairperson of the Miss World organization. She promises to be "the best Miss World ever". She literally conquered the world by storm because the night she won an impending storm has entered the Philippine area of responsibility and is threatening to some parts of the country.  On the night when she won Miss World Philippines 2013 in August, a combination of storm and monsoon rains is ravaging the country flooding knee deep the streets and highways of the capital, Manila.
Her winning answer to the question on Why should she be the next Miss World: "A Miss World for me treasures the core values of humanity that guides her understanding people why they act they do, how they are living their lives and I will use these core values in my understanding not only helping others but to show other people how they can understand others to help others so that together as one we shall help society," is a perfect strong, inspirational message for the ongoing protest against Miss World.
The eldest of the three (3) siblings, twenty-three year old Megan Young was born in United States to an American father and Filipina mother but moved to the Philippines when she was 10 together with her younger sister and brother because for her she is a true bloodied Filipina in mind, heart and soul. She really looks like a natural Filipina in her physical features and appearance plus her color, actions, gesture and behavior is really that of a true Filipina beauty. She took care of her siblings for a time while their parents are away for work. Her father is American and her mother is a pure bloodied Filipina from the town of Pandan in Antique province in Western Visayas region.
Her winning gown for the Miss World Philippines 2013 was designed by her fellow Ilonggo designer, Eric De Los Santos from Iloilo and her winning gown for Miss World 2013 was designed by Francis Libiran.
First (1st) princess or 1st runner up went to France, Marine Lorpheline and Second (2nd) princess or 2nd runner up went to Ghana, Carranzar Naa Okailey Shooter. The rest of the top 6 finalists were Brazil, Sancler Frantz, Spain, Elena Ibarbia and the People's vote winner Gibraltar, Maroua Kharbouch which automatically places her into the final top 6 spot.
Special awards were also given to the contestants who excels in different fast track events which garner them points into the semifinals round of the Miss World 2013 finals.
Earlier a massive protest of the hardline extremists forced the Miss World Organization and its Indonesian organizers to move the location of the finals from Sentul International Convention Center in Jakarta to Nusa Dua Convention Center in Bali for security reasons. The protests did not hamper the successful staging of the Miss World finals which features some of the colorful and rich in culture and tradition dances and music of Indonesia.
It was the first time that Indonesia hosted an international beauty pageant competition. Miss World was started in 1951 by the late Mr. Eric Morley and her wife, Mrs. Julia Morley to define beautiful women with purpose. The beauty pageant is known to have numerous charity missions and works all throughout the world working with non-profit organizations helping different causes for humanity.
