BPO Companies Review

            Business Processing Outsourcing or BPO is giving hundreds of thousands of Filipinos job opportunities. This is an in-demand job this decade and further. Outsourcing customer service and technical support services to foreign countries with cheap labor costs and operational expenses aims to maximize profits for the big firms and companies. Inasmuch as the other goal of the BPO is to help the unemployed, they also ensure quality, talented and skillful manpower at par with global standard to deliver an outstanding customer service and support by a standardized recruitment. However, in recent years, getting the job is like passing through a needle by stricter measures of scrutiny, screening and hiring. It becomes difficult to land a job in Makati, a financial district near Manila here in Philippines due to standard of hiring. Some of the Filipino recruitment specialist in a BPO Company rejects an applicant due to discrimination, envy of the applicant’s superiority over the recruiter based on his credentials and interview that they feel intimidated that one day the applicant will overthrow them or just plain crab mentality trying to pull down their fellow Filipino.
          What is more insulting to the injury is an organization here in the Philippines is trying to make business out of applicant’s job application in a BPO company. They propose to conduct a standardized call center examination for those who wish to work in a call center or BPO company and those who will pass will be recommended to a call center company but they will charge 500 pesos for each examinee. It is taking profits at the expense of these miserable unemployed individuals
          I once worked in call center companies and had applied in some of the big BPO companies and had some keen observation on them. I will give my reviews on some of the BPO centers and you will be the judge.


Sutherland Global Services - It is one of the emerging leaders in outsourcing based on outstanding customer service & support and clients employing the company’s service and hiring process is cool – you won’t have a hard time landing an inbound / outbound customer support because they are not looking for a corporate profile, Ph. D. or doctorate degree graduate to do the job as what most Filipino employer does. They are really looking for a doctorate degree or a successful entrepreneur. The downside is poor management or poor boss – subordinate relationship which they don’t usually give an employee a second chance to redeem himself and proves he’s worth it but instantly fire that person. Once you are fired due to poor performance and you’re given end of contract, you are eternally banned from applying and working again with Sutherland Global Services, Inc. One trick that most foreign companies employ here in the Philippines: since it is against the Philippine Labor Law, to fire an employee, they usually name the firing of an employee as a “resignation” to make it sounds legal. How clever, isn’t it?


People Support - This is one of the biggest call center in the Philippines but hiring employees is very rigid and exams were difficult and interviews requires prompt answers to some situations so you need presence of mind and they may sometimes require a reputable resume to boost their workforce. Their hiring is costly much more the nature of the job which requires multi tasking and superior logical skills as it involves complicated problem solving and several tasks you need to accomplish. Downside it needs to review and upgrade their employee compensation and benefits in comparison to the nature of the job.


Teletech – They have cool recruitment process and they seem to help a lot of unemployed Filipinos and the job is not too difficult and rigid to perform. Downside is poor compensation, benefits and environment.


ePerformax – a call center that most people believe don’t exist because of poor hiring since they only hire those who rings true to their guts and intuition is their basis for decision. No wonder only a few make it plus they have poor compensation, benefits and poor management.


        I observe that most ladies, who came from poor families living in shanties, slums and depressed areas, who work in Makati, Philippines speaks foul, nasty, offensive, absurd languages that has bearings on their background and character as a person are actually whores and sluts. They work in offices and graveyard shifts in call center but at the end of shift they sell their bodies to anyone. They look decent and professional working in the financial district but beyond those prim and proper lies a filthy animal out for a wild dare adventure. Ladies from other neighboring cities like Pasig and Quezon City who came from the middle and upper class doesn’t show any signs of nastiness, poor upbringing in words and actions.


Convergys – Also a big call center company and hiring is cool employing thousands of Filipinos in different cities in the country. However, it requires a multi tasking person and those who possess excellent logical skills because it involves tasks about problem solving & different operations. There are products or service too difficult to handle that only those who has the expertise can tackle.

Binibining Pilipinas Universe 2010 Maria Venus Raj Dethroned Due To Birthplace?

        Binibining Pilipinas Universe 2010 Maria Venus Raj was questionably stripped out of her title and the chance to represent the Philippines to the Miss Universe 2010 due to a shallow reason of the inconsistencies of her birthplace based on the verbal statement of Raj and her mother and the once stated on her birth certificate. Maria Venus and her mother told the Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc that Venus was born in Qatar which differs from the birth certificates that she in fact was born in the Philippines. Regardless of the inconsistencies or the credibility of their statement will not discredit nor strip Venus of her citizenship as a Filipino nor technically disqualify her to represent the country in the prestigious beauty pageant. Venus has a rightful claim for the crown and should therefore represent the country in the Miss Universe 2010. She can sue the Binibining Pilipinas organizers for harassments and moral damages it caused her to humiliate her among the people but the stiffer fine should be imposed by Miss Universe Organization with Miss Paula Shugart as its president to disenfranchise Binibining Pilipinas to conduct beauty search for a delegate to represent the country in Miss Universe since she has desperately screwed up the Filipino people for several decades already. Hope proper actions must be taken already because we could not bear the injustice given us by a Colombia Miss Stella Marquez who chaired Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. and conducts the beauty search.It is just timely and rightful to disenfranchise the organization for the several decades of anomalies, scandals and controversies they caused the country.
           Maria Venus Raj is an epitome of a determined, driven and strong woman proving all her detractors that they were wrong and she really is a Filipina when the Philippines' Department of Foreign Affairs confirmed that she really is a Filipina by issuing her a passport that will alow her to travel places being a Filipino as a citizenship. Now its time for the Colombian national director of a Philippines pageant to bade farewell and have a controversial exit because she is a Colombian promoting a Colombian designer dressing up a Philippine delegate to international competitions prohibiting Filipino designers  and concerned citizens to touch their fellow citizen to prepare their delegate for international competition because it is bounded by an ill and illegal contract violating the rights and privileges of a Filipina contestant now in the name of Maria Venus Raj

Earth Hour 2010 Saves Energy

   The world yesterday stand up in unison to save energy for 60 minutes to preserve the mother Earth and to avert the dire consequences of global warming. It has been four years in the running that this annual activity is being held successfully. Philippines once again plays active role in the event with the most number of household and structures to switch off the electricity and the rest from Sydney to Beijing to Tokyo and Hong Kong, Paris, London, Berlin, Rome, Athens and New York have played significant role for saving energy. While most household participated in the Philippines, some ignorant, indifferent and apathetic citizens choose not to participate. If not for the blackouts that lasts up to half a day occurred, they haven't contributed and maybe burden for others. I suggest that every towns and cities should persuade their people to join and if not, their names should be published publicly for non-compliance so they should be aware of how important the event is and since it is only for 60 minutes it is not that long to spend some time off to save enough energy to help save mother nature.

FIFA Please Support The Iloilo FC

     I would like to call the attention of the FIFA, to give financial support to our very promising football players who are poor yet have huge potential for greatness in the world of soccer – the Iloilo FC here in Iloilo, Philippines. We already produced an outstanding football player in the person of Paulino Alcantara who played for Barcelona FC in 1920s and we could produce more talented players like Alcantara if the much needed support is enough to maximize their full potentials. Hope my voice is heard loud and clear for them to take action.

    I would like to commend Google for its Google Map & Google Earth for its contribution in mapping, a big help for people, government and private institution or organization for research, studies, relief efforts during calamities or just a guide for travelers and other purposes that may serve your map tool.



    I would just like to suggest that Google will start mapping locations for smaller cities and towns, their establishments, local community locations, venues and offices or buildings. I hope Google will make a more accurate and precise mapping for smaller cities here in the Philippines like Iloilo, Kalibo, Bacolod, Tacloban, Davao City, Tagum City, Cagayan de Oro City and Zamboanga City and hoping that the map is printable. It will help a lot the community and the rest of the world with a more smart and efficient yet effective mapping.

I am sad because I was not able to watch the Vancouver Winter Games in the venues.. I feel bad..

Winter Games 2010 Drama and Celebrations

       The Winter Olympics is making waves for a two week run in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada’s second largest city after Toronto. As the games brings to a close, there is so much beautiful and precious moments we will cherish about the games. Inasmuch as I want to watch and cover the Games myself for my blog I can’t for financial reasons. Unfortunately, I am not in Vancouver, at the courtside to watch the events as it happens though I have a few relatives and friends half an hour outside Vancouver and they must be watching the games. Even though I am living in a hot tropical country but still I love the Winter Games and just enjoy watching it from the comforts of my home.

       In just a short span of the games, we’ve seen dramatic twist and turns as the events unfold. The glitzy opening ceremony has been highlighted by the tragic death of a Georgian luger Nodar Kumaritashvilli as the sporting spectacle is about to begin – this should remind us no matter how cool the games were, safety and security measures should be at utmost priority.


      On the main feature that caps the glory of the games, we’ve seen the meteoric rise of bemedalled athletes in the likes of Lindsey Vonn, Bode Miller, Julia Mancuso, Maria Riesch, Anja Paerson, Evgeni Plushenko, Apollo Anton Ohno, Simon Amman, Shani Davis, Shaun White among others while we also been treated to a glance of the rising stars in the person of Evan Lysacek, Lydia Lassila, J.R. Celski, Lee Jung-su, Mark Tuitert, Andrea Fischbacher, Marcus Hellner, Adam Malysz, Ksenia Makarova among others. We also join the celebration when Tora Berger reached a milestone in giving her native country Norway their 100th gold medal and later, Emile Hegle Svendsen contributed the 101st. Who would’ve imagine Alexandre Bilodeau touted as “Alexandre the Great” touted as “Alexandre the Great” would be hailed as a hero for giving the first gold medal for Canada as a host country when it failed to deliver a single gold in the two previous Olympics hosting of Canada. Vancouver Winter Games is not complete without the forlorn acts when a Danish curler cries out for her poor performance due to poor concentration caused by the raucous, rowdy and jeering audience and the Dutch speed skater Sven Kramer’s coach forgetfulness which annoys or even makes us laugh. These heroes or rising stars gives us new hopes and inspiration, gave us valuable lessons like the possibilities of impossible, shattering failures but unwavering faith in success and victory yet they remain ordinary individuals humble before and after the games. It also shows us that Winter Games can gave us as much intense drama and action as the Summer Games can deliver and hooked us all in the “REAL” hit reality series whether we can watch it on television or on the sporting venues watching it live and on real time.


       I hope that by the succeeding Winter Games in the future, I would be present in the sporting venues watching as the events unfold covering the games for this blog or just having fun watching it!
