Intensity 6.9 Earthquake Shook Central Philippines

University of Iloilo students left their school after an intensity 5 earthquake shakes the city for a few seconds followed by a short aftershocks several minutes later.

       An Intensity 6.9 Earthquake jolted Central Philippines Monday as it sends panic and chaos among the people. It affected Region 7 Central Visayas, Region 6 Western Visayas, Pagadian City and the provinces of Agusan del Norte, Romblon and Sorsogon. The epicenter was estimated at 70 kilometers (40 miles) in the coastal city of Dumaguete City. The earthquake occurred in the ocean at a depth of 46.6 kilometers (29.9 miles). The following earthquakes occurred at Intensity 7 - Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental, Intensity 6.9 - Cebu, Bohol Intensity 5 - Iloilo, Romblon, Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras Intensity 4 and below - Pagadian City, Agusan del Norte and Sorsogon. More aftershocks took place later with the most recent one happened at around 7:30 in the evening.
