Beauty Pageant’s Question and Suggested Answer

Miss Universe 1996 Questions and My Suggested Answers

1. Who do you think should make birth control decisions – the government or individual women?
(Question asked by actress Starletta Dupois to Miss Aruba, Taryn Mansell)

Suggested Answer:
Health concerns and family are the main reasons why women take into consideration the birth control. It should be freely available to every woman who should be the primary decision makers affecting their lives where it deemed necessary and appropriate. The government’s role is to give them advice, reminders and to make sure to give them this option as a woman’s right and educate them the importance of birth control.

2. Would you marry a man who wants to stay home & care for the children while you support the family?
(Question asked by actress and singer Teri Ann Linn to Miss Russia Ilmira Shamsutdinova)

Suggested answer:
Marriage is the union of a man and a woman who shares in happiness and sadness, sickness or health, misery and comfort. The traditional paternalistic custom or stereotype that a father is always the breadwinner and sole provider of the family, who toils sweat and hard labor to earn a living while the mother stays home and takes custody of the household is considered as outdated, obsolete and impractical. Now, starting in the 20th century, more and more women have been given freedom and power and privilege to enhance and develop their skills and personality and prove that they are to be equal with men. It is ordinary nowadays that more and more mothers are working and more fathers stay at home. It would be fine with me if my husband would stay at home and take good care of the children if he shows to be a good and responsible father that could take good care of the household and creative enough to find ways to earn a living even if he just stays home to earn income while I support the family. This way it can help add extra income to the household. We should be practical nowadays. This is just a mutual responsibility that we need to compromise to maintain a good and healthy living.

3. Other than this pageant, what is the greatest challenge in your life at this time?
(Question asked by former American football player Fred Williamson to Miss USA, Ali Landry)

Suggested Answer:
Life is a daily struggle whether you think of ways to earn a living for a day or find ways of settling your bills and debts from loans – it is a daunting task that requires patience and critical thinking and creativity. The ultimate challenge for me nowadays is not just how to get out of misery and poverty (referring to this blogger) but to look for a career or profession that is not only you are passionate about but also to share to everyone else your hidden potential and also to harness your given talents and skill for the better.

4. Do you think it’s important for women to have equal opportunity with men to participate in sports and if so, why?
(Question asked by sportscaster Jim Nantz to Miss Finland Iyabode Odusoga)

Suggested Answer:
Sports does not only prove physical prowess but also promotes healthy lifestyle. Women do need to have equal opportunities with men to participate and engage in sports not only to prove gender equality as women have proven several times to be equal with men but also to enjoy the privilege of fitness and health benefits brought by sports.

5. If you could choose only one, would you choose smart, rich or beautiful or why?
(Question asked by actress Maud Adams to Miss Venezuela Alicia Machado)

Suggested Answer:
I would choose to be smart because if you are smart you know to find ways to be beautiful and you know how to find ways to be rich and enhance yourself further to be stronger, wiser and to enhance your personality.

6. In today’s world, women have proven that there’s a place for them in any field. But taking into account all human history, who do you think is the greatest woman and why?
(Question asked by Miss Universe 1987, Cecilia Bolocco to Miss Mexico Vanessa Guzman)

Suggested Answer:
Human history have given us countless of women of notable achievements. I admire and respect Mother Teresa’s compassion for humanity. Her selfless service and endless determination towards achieving a dignified living among the destitute underprivileged poorest of the poor shows her sincerity and kindness of heart. Her impressive charity works earned her unwavering support, prayers and affection from people all over the world. Mother Teresa is an epitome of a great woman in the history of the world.

Final Question: What can men learn from women?

Men can only learn one thing about women and completely understand the nature of a woman and unlocks the key of women's success in life. From conception to giving birth of a woman to a child, men learn how to be patient, how to sacrifice or compromise and the virtue of love, dedication and determination were proven to be successfully triumphant over all other difficulties and hardships if one is strong enough to brave against all odds.

Philippine Government Under President Benigno S. Aquino III Administration Shaky, Ineffective and Illegitimate

Philippines is making a headline again this week because the Department of Justice cabinet secretary of President Aquino, Secretary Leila de Lima made a serious offense by ignoring Supreme Court ruling of temporary restraining order of hold departure list implemented by her office on former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and she insisted on it. The hysteria was triggered when the critical health condition of the ailing former President was decided for her to seek treatment in other countries where medical expertise is sufficient for her illness. According to Secretary Leila de Lima, Arroyo already has a pending case that allowed their office to issue a hold departure list for her. Former President Arroyo is faced with several lawsuit including election manipulation in the 2004 Presidential elections or electoral fraud and also countless of graft and corruption charges. De Lima insisted that the temporary restraining order by her office will not work against the hold departure list order and she is ready to face the contempt of court in doing so defending her claim and order. The Aquino administration said that it is just doing their job right to sweep clean the dirty government left by previous administration meeting their goal and party slogan
"matuwid na daan" (straight path). There is a gap between the present administration and the Supreme Court because the present administration feels that the Supreme Court which consists of members mostly appointed by the previous administration will do favors for Gloria Arroyo who appointed them and that they are bias justices and some people fear that these irreconcilable differences and dispute may lead to Constitutional Crisis and that the present administration feel is more than the martial law implemented by former president Ferdinand Marcos for human rights abuse to anyone including but not limited to the former president regardless of who she was. It is fine to prosecute someone who made a serious offense and also to make a sincere determination to begin a upright government for the people and for the nation but without depriving one's rights. The present administration is not fair in treating other individuals who were persecuted by the law because they are warm and friendly to a former president and a convicted criminal and former police chief because the present president has close ties or friendship with the mentioned men. The former was convicted and imprisoned before but was pardoned by former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and the latter after the court finds him guilty based on sufficient evidence enough to implicate him for his crimes went on hiding in other countries but after President Aquino was elected and made sure that he will be safe and guided accordingly if he returns home, surfaced out of nowhere surprising the people. Nowadays, the former police chief and now a senator is free and happy and no pending case is filed against him. The militant protesters are surprisingly quiet this present administration because they know many blind and ignorant people are patronizing the president and a son of former President Corazon Aquino and the assassinated senator Benigno Aquino Jr. but during the previous administration when there are lots of complaints and issues even sensationalized by the media, these militant protesters are very noisy, rowdy and violent riding on the sentiments of the masses just to gain sympathy for their group. Presently, the present administration has no clear policies and platforms underlining his government and what can it attain in the next six years of his presidency yet the administration is only proud of its accomplishments. He is a very ineffective, inefficient and very disappointing president but I don't care because I did not vote for him and there will be no regrets for me unlike millions of Filipinos now who are full of regrets and remorse for electing a lousy and ineffective leader of a country.
The present administration under Benigno S. Aquino III is illegitimate because it does not respect and follow the Supreme Court decision and orders thus, does not uphold the law saying that the Chief Justice and most Associate of the Supreme Court were midnight appointees of the past corrupt president and therefore they know no Supreme Court and laws but their own laws because their law is an upright law not the Supreme Court appointed by previous administration. I don't know if the present administration is really sincere to have an upright government with a very disciplined people to attain his goal of a "matuwid na daan" for a "Brighter Philippines."

Philippine Congressmen Left Work To Watch Manny Pacquiao Boxing Fight

Sixty (60) Philippine congressmen left the country and their duties and responsibilities just to watch the Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez boxing match on November 12, 2011 and also a very luxurious vacation in American just to let everyone knows that they belong to the upper class and that they are the wealthiest of the wealthy not only in the Philippines but also in the world. They are bragging about their power, influence and fortunes in the world and hopefully, they don't come from the pockets of the Filipino people through taxes and government funds because according to them, it came from their own pocket. Unfortunately, they also left behind their duties and responsibilities - their accountability to the people from their respective district of jurisdiction and the projects will be postponed for awhile for a later time. There is no problem in watching the fight for as long as it came from their own pockets, it is a recess from Congress and that it does not compromise the projects to their districts of jurisdiction and bills or law to pass. If that would be the case, they should bring all their people to America to enjoy using their own money.

EB Universe 2011: The Redemption September 24, 2011

A week after Miss Pangola Sarah of Angola Saranggola was crowned Miss EB Universe 2011 last September 17, 2011, the world famous beauty pageant competition is held again last September 24, 2011 for reconsideration of the people's request of validating and confirming the competition by staging again for the last time the popular beauty contest to reaffirm who is the real winner of the competition. We remember that after Miss Pangola Sarah of Angola Saranggola was crowned as EB Universe 2011, many people walk out including the host of the pageant due to unconvincing result full of discrepancy and skepticism and it roots from the unimpressive answers of Miss Pangola (bleakly referring actually to the real unimpressive answer of Miss Angola, Leila Lopes to the Miss Universe 2011). Watch the spoof, satire or plain sarcasm of a variety show for a beauty pageant.

Rainbow Colors Making A Headline These Days

Rainbow color fly high these days making headlines and news around the world. News of tragedy, happiness and hopes gives us a wake up call and raises our awareness on our gay brothers and lesbian sisters, their issues, stories and concerns matters most and gives impact to how we should live and treat each other.
With the recent DADT policy ban repeal, lots of closeted gays and especially from the military come out to their family, friends and comrades to confess their sexual preferences. One touching viral video of an airman calls his dad in the early morning to tell him he's gay hits millions of viewers. Below is the video of the gay Air Force Man confessing to his dad.

A 14-year old teen high school It Gets Better film maker died of an apparent suicide due to bullying from fellow students from the school he is studying. Bullying aside from his other personal problems was mention in his video. Hope this tragedy wakes us up and raises awareness on bullying and step up to make laws protecting the victims from bullying and even worse, subject the bully to gas chamber as a punishment. Click the link below for the story.

On the other hand, a 13 year-old gay teenager shots his 16 year old aspiring hairstylist gay lover in an incident that took place inside a shopping mall in San Fernando, Pampanga some 44.36 miles north of Manila, capital of the Philippines. A supposedly third party is thought to be the reason of the shooting. Shortly thereafter, the 13 year-old suspect committed suicide by shooting himself in the head. They were pronounced dead Wednesday, September 21. The families of victims, thinking their family members' purpose in life, later donated some of their organs to the lucky recipient so that parts of them are still living and around them all the time. This awakens mall, places and the hired agency to tighten security around public places such as mall to protect the people around its vicinity.

Miss Universe 2011 Funny Spoof and Sarcasm - EB Universe 2011!

This is just a funny spoof or satire of the recently-concluded Miss Universe 2011 held last September 12, 2011 at Credicard Hall, Sao Paolo, Brazil with a sarcasm on the winning of the very first Miss Angola to win the title and how the people react on her victory. Miss Pangola Sarah of Angola Saranggola, (from pango which is flat nose saranggola which is kite), Miss Lukraine Basilia Crispina Stefanko (Basilia Crispina came from the characters Basilio and Crispin were the lost sons of the insane Sisa in Dr. Jose Rizal's novel Noli Me Tangere), Miss Sobra - Brazil, Brazil Valdez ( sobra which means excessive and Brazil Valdez derives from the name of a singer Basil Valdez), Miss Pa-China Li-Jung Kai (Pa-china derives from Patay na which means already dead and Li Jung Kai from Bangkay which means corpse) referring to Miss China Luo Zilin lifeless performance in the swimsuit competition of Miss Universe 2011. Watch how the people walk out after learning the winning of Miss Pangola and Miss Pangola beg for the audience to please stay for just a week just to watch her feel the crowning moment and the hosts apologizes quickly leaving the show. Funny and hilarious spoof. Watch the following videos below...

Miss Angola Leila Lopes Named Miss Universe 2011

Sao Paulo, Brazil
–  A statuesque, dusky "black Barbie doll" Miss Angola Leila Lopes, a business management student in London from the town of Benguela, Angola was named the Miss Universe 2011 beating 88 other gorgeous hopefuls from different parts of the world. It is the first time in history of the beauty pageant and of this African country and former Portuguese colony to win the much coveted title or any beauty pageant competition it participated. Her ordinary, common and stereotypical answer makes her win the 60th Miss Universe which took place last September 12, 2011 at Credicard Hall in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Tony Award winning actress Lea Salonga asked the question to Miss Angola, “If you could change one of your physical characteristics, which one would it be and why?” which she confidently answered, “Thank God I’m very well satisfied with the way that God created me and I wouldn’t change a thing. I consider myself a woman endowed with inner beauty, I have my principles, I have acquired many wonderful principles from my family and I plan to follow these through the rest of my life and now I want to give all of you a piece of advice: Respect one another.” Until now Miss Angola’s response to the said final Q&A generated a lot of polarizing comments and discussions among people around the world. They are not convinced with her somewhat “imitated and rehearsed” answer commonly answered by previous contestants and her fellow finalists and even doubted her winning. Scripted and overused questions created by the MUO staff and was drawn lots and picked by judges to ask the final five contestants heightened the issue and also because the question is not really the judge personal question but was created for them to ask. Angola’s win of Miss Universe will not only bring honor to her country but also a privilege to sow peace, unity and harmony to her strife torn country divided by decades of civil war.
1st runner up is Ukraine, Olesya Stefanko, 2nd runner up is the hometown girl Brazil, Priscila Machado, 3rd runner up is Miss Philippines Shamcey Supsup whose answer regarded by many as the best answer of the night and 4th runner up went to Miss China Luo Zilin. Rounding up the top 16 semifinalists were candidates from France, Kosovo, Colombia, Australia, Puerto Rico, Netherlands, USA, Panama, Costa Rica, Portugal (internet votes) and Venezuela. Specials awards were also given to the following: Most Photogenic – Miss Sweden, Ronnia Fornstedt, Miss Congeniality – Miss Montenegro, Nikolina Loncar given during the preliminary competition and Best in National Costume – Miss Panama, Sheldry Saez which was announced during the finals night. For the first time in the history of Miss Universe, worldwide audience got to select one candidate who will automatically advances to the semifinal round by voting for her online through the official Miss Universe website and NBC.com.This year, the lucky girl is Miss Portugal, Laura Goncalves.
The event were hosted by news anchor and co-host on NBC’s “Today” Natalie Morales and host of Bravo’s “Watch What Happens: Live” Andy Cohen with color commentaries from Style Network Jeannie Mai and Miss USA 2004 Shandi Finnessey but I love the former because she is knowledgeable, impartial, fair, friendly, warm and most of all, knows what she is doing. The judges include Helios Castroneves, three-time winner of Indianapolis 500, Connie Chung, US broadcast legend, Isabeli Fontana, Brazilian supermodel, Vivica Fox, Actress and Television producer, Adrienne Maloof, From Bravo’s hit series “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills”, Lea Salonga, Laurence Olivier and Tony award winning actress, Amelia Vega, Miss Universe 2011, Italo Zanzi, Deputy Secretary General of CONCACAF (Confederation of North, Central American and Carribean Association of Football) and Farouk Shami, owner of hair and skin care Farouk Systems.
Miss Universe is not complete without its fair share of controversy which makes it different from all other international beauty pageant competitions and gives the pageant its unique identity. Controversy includes Miss Colombia Catalina Robayo was reprimanded for having pictures taken of her without undies showing some skin, Miss China Luo Zilin and her national director Yue Sai Kan arranged a meeting with a preliminary judge of the competition and Miss USA Alyssa Campanella’s skinny body incited some concerns and anxious comments from pageant followers.

A Decade Of Living Into The Virtual World

Just few days from now, I’ll be celebrating my ten years of accessing the World Wide Web. It is just a week after that tragic event that changes our lives forever- the World Trade Center bombing in New York City, USA. The explosion that rocked the world bounced on me a week after when I made my first click I was immediately propelled into the vast environment of the virtual universe of just about anything. Since then, I learned a lot, meet a lot of people and even earn a living using the Internet. I cannot fully express how grateful I am for what internet have given me through the years much more grateful to the inventors of this 21st century wonder. If for the past ten years, the Internet had given me enough opportunity to earn money and earn things that I wanted, will the Internet takes me to different places and countries around the world in the next ten years as my way of saying thank you to those countries which has visited my blog – one of my proudest project brought by Internet? That’s the biggest question and the second big question is who will take me and how will I visit those places?
